Larry Hoskinson has been playing the guitar since age 6, when his father taught him to play chords. Soon he began playing by ear to songs on the radio as well as writing his own music. As a teenager, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he performed with a variety of groups before relocating to Greenville to join alt-country band Seconds Flat in 1993. Seconds Flat received national attention with its self-titled record label release in 1997. Hoskinson wrote many of the songs that still today garner both US and international attention and radio airplay. The album ranked #3 on the Billboard Americana chart. He has shared the stage with such musicians as Alison Krauss & Union Station, Steve Earle, and The Band, and appeared on NPR's "Mountain Stage."
Larry enjoys teaching and performing a variety of styles, and cites his influences as Andres Segovia, Wes Montgomery, Paul Gilbert, BB King, the Beatles, Django Reinhardt, Jimi Hendrix, and Chet Atkins.
Currently Larry teaches Guitar Ensemble at Christ Church Episcopal School and Augusta Circle Elementary, as well as teaching private lessons from beginners to more advanced students. You can hear him performing in the Southeast both in groups and as a solo musician.
